What you gain from this lesson: You will understand why most non-professional traders lose their capital in short-term trades using intraday strategies and high-leverage scalping, and how the Trend Hunter Strategy, backed by 4CastMachine AI Weekly Forecasts and a public weekly archive since 2015, solves this problem on the daily (D) timeframe.
Why I created the Trend Hunter Strategy: the problem I saw from 2007 to 2012?
I, Navid Jafarian, began working on the Trend Hunter Strategy in 2007. After five years of research, testing, and teaching it to thousands of my students, I published the strategy in 2012. Since then, its core rules have remained virtually unchanged.
During those five years of teaching, I saw an important reality among my students and across almost every losing account. Most people who enter financial markets are not full-time institutional traders, and trading is not their main job. Both psychologically and financially, they face two serious constraints:
Modest capital: Most of them have small accounts rather than large capital. Because their starting capital is small, a calm monthly return feels too slow to them, and they want to draw a steady daily or weekly income from a small account right away.
Limited time and mental energy: They cannot sit in front of a screen for long hours every day or handle the psychological stress of tick-by-tick price swings.
On the other hand, Forex brokers around the world offer massive borrowing ratios (leverage) that today reach even 1:2000. Because many retail traders do not know strict money management or proper lot sizing, high leverage tempts them to take small accounts into high-leverage scalping on 1m and 5m charts or intraday trading strategies on 15m, 30m, and 1h charts. As a result, they get trapped in intraday market noise and lose their capital.
Creating a long-term strategy to catch major market waves
Seeing this reality, I decided to create a long-term strategy on the daily (D) timeframe tailored to the life, mindset, and capital of part-time traders. This approach keeps them away from exhausting intraday noise and lets them catch major multi-week and multi-month waves:
In the Forex market: Along with banking thousands of stepped pips on major pairs such as
EURJPY,USDJPY, andEURUSD, traders caught exceptional long-term Buy waves on pairs such as the US Dollar against the Turkish Lira (USDTRY).In Commodities: The exact same strategy produced highly profitable long-term Buy trades in Gold (
XAUUSD) and Crude Oil (WTIandBRENT), with the full track record recorded on the site.In Cryptocurrencies (Crypto): When the crypto market emerged years after the strategy was published in 2012, many of my students used this exact strategy from the earliest years to catch massive long-term Buy waves in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies.
True trend vs. market noise: why daily trend strategies are cleaner and stronger?
On a 1m, 5m, 15m, or even 1h chart, a large share of price movement is random intraday noise caused by short-term order flow, session opens in London and New York, and algorithmic stop sweeps. Support, resistance, and indicator setups on intraday charts break and fail several times a day.
On the daily (D) timeframe, each candle sums up 24 hours of global trading across Asia, Europe, and New York. Daily trends are driven by central-bank interest-rate policy, institutional fund flows, and macroeconomic shifts. Once a daily trend starts from a major support or resistance zone, it carries real momentum that often runs for weeks or months.
Why routine economic news breaks intraday setups but rarely breaks a daily trend?
In intraday strategies and scalping, a single inflation report, jobs release, or central-bank speech can whip price tens or even hundreds of pips up and down in seconds. That sudden spike hits the tight stop loss of both scalpers and intraday traders before the market resumes its original direction.
On the daily (D) chart, that same news spike of tens of pips is merely a short wick on one daily candle inside a 600-pip or 1000-pip wave. Better yet, 4CastMachine AI automatically adjusts its trading zones ahead of high-impact economic news based on how far that release moved price in the past.
The high-leverage and small-pip trap in intraday trading and scalping
Forex and CFD brokers offer massive borrowing ratios, from 1:500 and 1:1000 up to 1:2000. Most non-professional traders have never learned strict money management or lot sizing based on stop distance.
High leverage tempts a small account to open an oversized lot size so that a 10-pip scalp or a 25-pip intraday move produces a big dollar profit. However, when your lot size is huge, your account can only withstand 100 to 250 pips of total stop-loss drawdown. On a 5m, 15m, or 1h chart, a 20-pip move is just routine market breathing, and two or three normal intraday swings that close at a loss can, when repeated, wipe out the entire account.
Why brokers and market makers push intraday strategies and scalping?
Ask yourself a simple question: who profits when you open 5 to 20 trades a day? Every time you click Buy or Sell, your broker collects the bid-ask spread and commission immediately, whether you win or lose. In addition, many unregulated or dealing-desk firms ("broker-like" market makers) take the other side of retail trades and profit directly when over-leveraged accounts liquidate.
A trader who opens one calm daily trend setup and holds it for six weeks pays the spread once. An intraday trader or scalper who opens 10 to 15 trades a day pays the spread 300 to 450 times in six weeks. Broker promotions, rebates, and social-media rooms glorify fast intraday strategies and scalping because high trade counts guarantee broker revenue while draining your account through transaction costs.
Why even intraday traders must master daily trend strategies first?
Even if you eventually want to trade on the 4h or 1h timeframe, you must first learn to read and trade in the direction of the daily (D) trend. Running an intraday Buy strategy on a 15m or 1h chart while the daily timeframe is in a strong downtrend is like swimming against a river current. Every bounce fails quickly, and every mistake is punished.
When you start with a daily trend strategy and Saturday's Weekly Forecasts, you learn patience, zone discipline, and trend alignment. Every trade you take moves with the dominant wave of the market.
Intraday strategies and scalping vs. Daily Trend Hunter Strategy
| Feature | Intraday strategies and scalping (1m to 1h) |
Daily Trend Hunter Strategy (D) |
|---|---|---|
| Screen time required | 4 to 8 hours every day watching intraday candles and ticks | 15 minutes on Saturday + a few minutes to check the daily candle |
| Market noise and false breaks | Very high, as session whipsaws and stop hunts hit tight stops | Very low, as daily zones reflect institutional flow |
| Impact of routine economic news | Often wipes out 10-pip to 30-pip intraday stops in seconds | Usually absorbed as a single wick inside the daily trend |
| Broker spread and commission drag | Heavy cost across dozens or hundreds of trades per month | Minimal cost across a few high-value multi-week setups |
| Borrowing ratio (leverage) needed | Tempts extreme 1:500 to 1:2000 risk on small moves |
Works with low or zero leverage because waves are large |
| Audited track record on ForecastCity | None | 89.9% profitable setups in Forex since 2015 (Profit Factor 7.69) |
An honest note: who this strategy is (and is not) for
Our public archive since 2015 proves that the Trend Hunter Strategy has closed in profit on 89.9% of its 961 Forex setups, 89.1% of its Commodity setups, and 85.6% of its Crypto spot setups. However, it requires a mindset that differs from social-media hype:
If you want overnight riches or 10 trades a day: This strategy is not for you. On the daily timeframe, price can take weeks to reach a Buy zone or Sell zone, and weeks or months to hit all stepped targets.
If you want calm, verifiable multi-week profits: If you prefer to prepare for 15 minutes on Saturday, let ForecastCity alerts watch the zones during the week, protect your capital at Break-Even, and ride major market waves without daily stress, this course was built for you.
